Pursuit of Happiness: Live a Life That Makes You Happy

Pursuit of Happiness: Live a Life That Makes You Happy

We pursue promotions, purchase new cell phones, take trips to faraway places, and still, there is always something missing. Have you ever noticed that? That’s because happiness is not something to be discovered. Happiness is something to be created, one intentional choice at a time.

1. The Legend of "When I Get There, I'll Be Happy"

Many of us harbor the invisible list, “When I have a job here… when I have that car… when I find the right person…”

But happiness isn’t waiting for you at the end point of your next goal.

Happiness is right here in the small moments you may overlook, the quiet coffee, the laugh you have with a friend, the beauty of peace you experience after doing something kind.

Truth: The quest for happiness isn’t about reaching somewhere; it’s about being somewhere, fully present in this moment.

2. Reconsider the Meaning of Success, Identify What “Happy” Means to You

A significant portion of our unhappiness stems from our attempts to fulfill someone else’s definition of success.

You should ask yourself. Below is a list of ideals that can generate fulfillment.

Does this involve creative expression, connection, calmness, adventure, or contribution?

You must write it down.

Because as soon as you realize what happiness looks like for you, it becomes easier to make decisions that respect happiness.

3. Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude: It Will Rewire Your Brain

Research states that: Gratitude rewires your brain to look for good instead of not letting go of the bad.

Start every day by giving thanks for three things.

Even the smallest things:

Be it a “I slept well,”

Or “I had a good meal,”

Even “Someone smiled at me.”

After a period of time, this practice will shift your attention from what is missing to what is already present in abundance.

4. Stop Comparing Your Chapter 2 to Someone’s Chapter 20

Social media leads everyone to believe they’re living their best life, all the time.

But remember, that’s a highlights reel, not the whole picture.

Your journey is unfolding at its own pace, and that’s okay.

You are not late; you are just becoming.

5. Tend to What Makes You Alive

Happiness has to be tended to – like any other living thing.

Invest time in things that make you lose track of time.

Find people who fill you up.

Take breaks as needed.

Meditate, dance, write, paint, walk, sing – whatever moves you closer to yourself.

Because the truth is that the goal is not to live a “perfect” life – it is to live a real life.

Remember,

Happiness is not about running away from the pain

It’s about learning how to find peace while in it

So, take time today, Breathing.

Do something, even just a little something, that causes your soul to grin.

Because happiness isn’t “out there” somewhere, it starts with you.
